Melanie Adams, M.S., CMCS

Melanie Adams serves as the Director, Career Education & Coaching at the Florida Atlantic University Career Center. Melanie joined the FAU Career Center in 2013 and provides forward-leaning program development and hands-on leadership for the Career Education & Coaching team to ensure students and alums are career-ready and achieve meaningful internships, employment, or graduate school opportunities. Melanie oversees most student-related goals for career services, including but not limited to, career assessments, career courses, career readiness workshops, individual appointments, and career development content and training.
Melanie has taught Career & Life Planning for eight years which helps first and second year undecided college students with career decision-making and most recently helped launch a new course capstone course, Professional Development for graduating seniors. Melanie was awarded Employee of the Year for the Division of Student Affairs and has been recognized for her leadership skills at the university. Prior to working at Florida Atlantic, Melanie worked at Florida International University and Florida Gulf Coast University serving in career coach roles.
Melanie is a Certified Master of Career Services (CMCS) and completed certification for the Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) prior to the launch of NCDA credentialing. Melanie holds a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from Florida International University and completed her undergraduate degree in Marketing and Communication at Florida Gulf Coast University. Melanie is actively involved in professional organizations and has served on the Florida Career Development Association board. Melanie regularly presents at conferences and webinars on career topics.
